The MASSIN (Madjid Samii Society of International Neurosurgery) was created in 2002 by former trainees and colleagues of Professor Samii to celebrate and expand his neurosurgical school, through bi-annual Congresses and interim Congresses. More information can be found on the MASSIN website.

I am honored and delighted to be selected as the President of the long-awaited 8th MASSIN Congress, from Oct. 2-5, 2024. My home institution, the Vivian L. Smith Department of Neurosurgery at Mc Govern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, and I look forward to welcoming attendees to the unique site of the next Congress, in the center of the Texas Medical Center, the world’s most comprehensive Life Science Ecosystem, in the most welcoming and most cosmopolitan city in the United States—Houston, Texas.

I encourage you to register as soon as possible, as capacity is limited. The superb Scientific Program covers all subspecialties, with a focus on the art and skill of neurosurgery. The speakers have been predominantly trained in or associated with the superlative Madjid Samii school of surgical excellence, with a significant participation of speakers from other various corners and institutions.

For the first time in MASSIN history, we are collaborating with the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), whose Annual Meeting is taking place at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston from Sept. 28-Oct. 2, 2024, immediately preceding the MASSIN Congress. The MASSIN Congress’ inaugural session (Oct. 2 from 2:00-5:45 p.m.) will take place at the Convention Center on the last day of the CNS Meeting, while the remaining sessions (Oct. 3, 4, and 5) will take place at the Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine (IMM) at UTHealth Houston.

On behalf of Professor Samii and the MASSIN members, I look forward to welcoming you.
